Anne Yanow brings a wealth of experience, spanning over two decades, in advocating for arts education. She actively engages with teachers, parents/guardians, and students, emphasizing the paramount importance of arts education and championing Ruth Asawa's philosophy that "art is for everyone."
Additionally, Anne has undergone specialized training as an engagement docent for the Asian Art Museum, and she holds a position on the board of the Friends of School of the Arts. Her role as President and Friendraiser for the organization is a testament to her lifelong dedication, inspired by the pioneering spirit of Bill Graham. In the late '60s, when arts education faced defunding, Graham organized several concerts to raise funds, ensuring that arts remained a vital component of school curricula.
Anne carries forward Asawa and Graham's vision, working tirelessly to ensure ongoing support for arts education as an integral part of everyday life. A proud native of San Francisco, Anne is married to a middle school teacher, and together they have two daughters. She is also a doting grandmother to her two-year-old grandson, Elvis Jett Yanow Rodriguez, who embodies their hope for a vibrant artistic future.
